What does an ultrasonic plastic welder cost? The honest answer: it depends on the machine configuration and the tooling your part needs — which is why we quote every project individually instead of publishing price lists. This guide explains exactly what drives the price of an ultrasonic welding machine, how to configure one without paying for capability you don’t need, and how to get a firm quotation fast.
What Determines the Price
- Drive technology. Pneumatic machines are the economical workhorses. Servo drives cost more but control weld depth directly — the right choice for appearance parts and welded joints with tight tolerance requirements.
- Power and frequency. 15 kHz machines for large parts carry more power and bigger tooling; 35–40 kHz machines for small, delicate parts run lower power. Higher power ratings move the price up.
- Controls. A digital generator with color touch screen, parameter storage and QA diagnosis adds cost — and pays it back in scrap reduction. Options like a built-in scanning gun for data acquisition are quoted as add-ons.
- Tooling. The horn (sonotrode) and fixture are custom-machined per part. Part size, material and geometry decide the tooling effort — for complex parts, tooling is a significant share of the project total.
- Automation level. A standalone bench machine, a rotary-table cell and a fully integrated production line are different projects with different budgets.
Machine Types and What They’re For
| Machine Type | Best For |
|---|---|
| Handheld ultrasonic spot welder (GSH series) | Tacking, small parts, on-site and repair work |
| Pneumatic desktop welder, 15 / 20 kHz | General plastic part welding, medium volumes |
| Digital pneumatic welder with touch screen | Process control, data logging, QA traceability |
| Servo precision welder | Tight-tolerance parts, medical and electronics |
| Servo torsional / spin friction welder | Round parts, leak-tight and hermetic seals |
| Automation modules and integrated lines | High-volume production, special equipment |
How to Configure Without Overpaying
| Your Part | Recommended Setup | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small housings, caps, filters (< 80 mm) | 20 kHz pneumatic | Lowest cost per quality weld at this size |
| Medium parts, semi-finished assemblies | 20 kHz digital pneumatic | Parameter storage keeps every shift consistent |
| Large or long parts (> 200 mm) | 15 kHz, higher power | Lower frequency = larger amplitude, deeper weld |
| Appearance / precision parts | Servo welder with depth control | Weld by dimension, not by time |
| Round or tubular parts | Servo spin friction welder | Rotary friction gives full-circumference seals |

Why We Quote Instead of Publishing Prices
Two reasons. First, the tooling: the horn and fixture are machined to your part, so two customers buying the same machine model can end up with very different project totals. Second, honest engineering: we’d rather trial-weld your samples, confirm the configuration actually works, and quote that — than tempt you with a bare machine price that doesn’t produce good welds. Every quotation comes with a free trial welding service on your samples and the parameter recipe for your production.
How to Get a Quotation Fast
Send any of the following and our engineers will come back with a configured machine price within one business day:
- A part drawing or a photo of the product
- The plastic material(s) and joint design, if known
- Target output (parts per minute / per shift)
- Samples, if you can ship them — we weld them free and film the result
Shipping is quoted EXW, FOB Shanghai or CIF on request. See the India & South Asia quoting guide or check the HS code for customs clearance.
FAQ
Why don’t you publish a price list?
Because the machine alone rarely decides the project — tooling and configuration do. A published range would be either so wide it’s useless or so narrow it’s misleading. Quoting per application gives you a number you can actually build on.
Is the trial welding really free?
Yes. Send samples and we weld them, measure the results and hand you the parameter recipe with the quotation — no charge, no obligation.
Can I get one machine for several different parts?
Commonly done. One machine, several horn/fixture sets. We’ll quote the tooling sets per part family; changeover takes minutes.
